There is a waiting time of around 6 weeks for Driving Test appointments.
On the day of your test we arrive at the test centre 30 minutes early, run through the ‘show me, tell me’ questions, park at the Test Centre and go into the waiting room.
At the allocated test time the examiner will call your name. and ask to see both parts of your Driving Licence (photo card and counterpart) plus your Theory Test certificate.
When outside in the car park you will be asked to read a number plate from 20.5 metres (67 feet) to check your eyesight and then go to the car.
The examiner will ask you 2 of the ‘show me, tell me’ questions you ran through earlier with your instructor
Once the questions are out of the way the practical test will begin and you will spend approximately forty minutes following the examiner's directions and proceeding according to the road markings and signs.
You may be asked to carry out an Emergency Stop; and you will be asked to demonstrate a manoeuvre which could be a turn in the road, reverse park, park in a bay or reverse round a corner.
The test will end back at the Test Centre and at this point you will be told by the examiner whether you have passed or failed. Your instructor will drive you home
The examiner will ask you to follow a series of directions, traffic signs, or a combination of both, for about ten minutes.
The object of this part of the test is to make sure that you are able to drive correctly whilst navigating - you will be taught this in your driving lessons with Tulip Driving School.
